JUST as everyone gets ready for the year ahead and ASM gears up for what I’m sure will be an incredible year, it’s time for me to depart. My MA is complete and so it’s time for me to join the big wide world and let someone else have their turn at the Online Editor role.
It has been an incredible experience to be part of student media for the last 4 years and see ASM develop from the very start. Everyone who was on the committee or was a member of ASM since it formed in 2012 should be incredibly proud of what has been achieved through the four great platforms. Personally, I’ve learned and developed so much through my time with student media and could not recommend getting involved highly enough to any student, new or old.
ASM has a lot of exciting things planned for the upcoming term, so make sure you keep up to date by checking in with the website or liking ASM on Facebook. Lots of new content is going up on the website as the term gets underway, and you can already pick up the Freshers’ Edition of The Courier across campus and town.
I’d like to say thanks to the committee(s) for all their support and camaraderie over the last few years, it would not have been the same experience (or as fun) without you! Particularly, I would like to say a huge thank you to the rest of the 2014-15 senior management team (Rhian, Chris, Katie, Cameron, and Anastazja) for an excellent year which we can all be proud of. Also, I’d like to thank Steffan Storch, the first ever Chair of ASM, for getting me initially involved in student media through The Courier when I was just a first year, where I wrote a little article on travel tips. I’d like to say a final thank you to my predecessor Laura Say for all her support, advice, and friendship, and for being a great role model to follow as Online Editor.
I am confident in leaving the website in very capable hands, and I look forward to finding out where the society will go next. I wish everyone luck and all the best.
